4 Passengers and Driver Seriously Hurt in Fiery Crash

A crash in Queens sent five people to the hospital. All of the injuries are described as serious, and the driver’s injuries are critical — though he had survived in the incident as of the latest reports.

The wreck happened when a white Chevrolet Sonic went out of control, rammed into three different parked vehicles, and did not stop until the front end was crushed up against a light post. Pictures show that the front of the car is completely mangled, and it caught on fire after the initial crash.

It is worth noting that police responded quickly and pulled everyone from the Chevy. That was fortunate, as it burst into flames shortly afterward.

Though the case may be far from over, the police do think the driver was under the influence. He’s 26 years old, and they think he had been drinking.

That driver, who had both body and head trauma, was taken over to Elmhurst Hospital. The rest of the car’s occupants were rushed to New York–Presbyterian Hospital Queens. While they were all in serious condition at the time, it was described as stable. They have broken bones and related trauma injuries.

The passengers included a 17-year-old girl, a 19-year-old man, an 18-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man. The 19-year-old man was the front-seat passenger in the Sonic, while the other three rode in the back seat.

The cost of all of these injuries will likely be enormous, showing just how much life can change in a split second. When a negligent driver injures his or her passengers, they may need to know how to seek compensation for those costs.
